Dr. Ben Goertzel is an AI researcher and the CEO and founder of SingularityNET. He is also Chairman of the OpenCog Foundation, Chairman of Artificial Intelligence Society, and Chief Scientist at Mozi Health. He has a Ph.D. in mathematics from Temple University, and he has been involved in several science and technology ventures throughout his career.
One notable venture was Hanson Robotics, whose mission is to create intelligent, empathetic robots that can learn, teach, entertain, and help people in everyday life.
Dr. Ben Goertzel was chief scientist at Hanson Robotics and worked on the development of Sophia. Sophia is a robot whose brain is powered by a cloud-based AI platform that continuously learns from humans through her interactions.
SingularityNET is a decentralized AI network that allows anybody to create, share, and monetize AI services at scale. The platform takes advantage of blockchain technology’s decentralized nature, meaning there is no ownership or restrictions.

One project in development on the SingularityNET platform is the Rejuve COVID-19 app. This app works with Apple Watch and offers symptomatic detection. Users can see if they have symptoms of COVID-19 before they even start to feel sick. The first version of the app is intended to give people an early warning sign. Future releases of the app will focus on longevity. Biosignals gathered from Apple Watch or other smartwatches are used to determine personal longevity. The AI powering this app is run on SingularityNET’s AI platform.
SingularityNET recently partnered with Cardano and moved from Ethereum to the Cardano blockchain. In episode 5 of SOLO TV, Ben describes the Cardano blockchain as “future-capable” and cites Ethereum’s high gas fees as one reason for the switch.
